August 10th, 2010 - 10:45 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Aug 10 (IANS) India won the Istanbul Rugby seven’s tournament and remained undefeated in the two-day event.
Many top-class teams from Europe, the Middle East and Asia participated in the tournament Saturday and Sunday.
India won all their six games on day one.
“All in all, a great outing and the boys played really well. Luckily no serious injury but all seem really tired and exhausted after 10 games in two days,” Indian captain Nasser Hussain said.
Aga Hussain, vice-president of Rugby India said: “The efforts of the boys for the past 16 months are finally bearing fruit. This victory will be a huge confidence booster and do their morale a world of good.”
The Indian Rugby team has left for England and will be training there till Aug 18.
“This will be a fantastic exposure for us and for most of the boys this will be their first feel of English weather and conditions. We will be training here for a week and will play a few practice games against Club sides,” Nasser said.
