India Vs AustraliaOct 4, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The 4th day of the first test between India and Australia came to an end and it looks like that none of the teams will get a good night’s sleep. After the match being evenly poised at the end of the second innings, it looked like the Indians might just sneak in with a win early on in the series as the Australians fell apart in their second innings. Things, however, were not as rosy as the Indian fans would have liked it to be as most of the Indian upper middle order were back in the pavilion before the umpires called it a day.

Set 216 to win, the Indian batting line-up looked capable enough to reach the target comfortably. Cricket experts, however, will agree that strange things are possible in the fourth innings and the Indian batting did produce a strange display of batting. Ben Hilfenhaus, who had a rather futile first innings came out all guns blazing towards the end of the fourth day and produced a miraculous spell. The Indian batsmen suddenly appeared uncomfortable with the bounce and movement of the bowler and surrendered rather tamely to him. Finishing with a magical figure of 3/22 off his 7 overs, he will be one of the keys to the Australian bowling attack on Day 5.

India were reeling at 55/4 at the end of the fourth day with Sachin Tendulkar and night watchman Zaheer Khan at the crease. Though batsmen like MS Dhoni and VVS Laxman are still to come, some fans might be hoping that the first test will go in India’s favor eventually. Cricket experts, however, feel that Australia are clearly on top at this stage of the game.
