India to face South Korea in AFC U-16 championship
October 3rd, 2008 - 5:42 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Oct 3 (IANS) India’s will face Korea Republic in their opening fixture of Group B of the AFC under-16 Championship at Tashkent Saturday. Syria and Indonesia are the other teams in Group B. A total of 16 teams divided into four Groups are participating in the championship.
South Korea are the winners of the 2002 edition of the championship. India, who will be making their fifth appearance, have qualified for the final round for the first time.
India had beaten teams like Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and drew with Iraq to qualify for the final round.
India team has given a good account of themselves during their exposure tours in last fifteen months in Germany, USA and more recently to Manchester.
Indian Chief Coach, Colin Toal said the Boys should maintain their positive frame of mind, enjoy the match and focus only at Saturday’s match against Korea.
