India seniors laud U-19 World Champions

Sachin Tendulkar Hyderabad, Aug 26 (IANS) Members of the senior India team complemented their Under-19 counterparts for winning the World Cup in Australia after their own victory in the first Test against New Zealand here Sunday.

Batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar said: “We were watching and following what was going on in the final in our dressing room. I would like to congratulate the team and tell them that you guys made us proud by raising that beautiful trophy.”

Virat Kohli, who captained the U-19 World Cup winning side in 2008 in Malaysia, said: “It was a great game of cricket. Hats off to Unmukt (Chand) who led from the front. Beating Australia in Australia in the final of a World Cup is a huge achievement. This is a great moment for India.”

Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Ravichandran Ashwin, who was named Man-of-the-Match, also congratulated the team, praising U-19 skipper Chand.
