The ongoing India-West Indies Series is creating quite a ripple among the cricket fans across the globe.
The two teams met each other at the third One Day International where the Indian squad held an upper hand over their opponent. The match wasn’t a very exciting one compared to the previous two as India won the match by the application of the Duckworth Lewis method. With this win India secured a 2-1 lead in the ODI which placed them at quite an advantageous situation in the four match ODI series.
The match commenced under tumultuous weather conditions, when, due to rain it was decided that the match will be played for 27 overs. Winning the toss, The Indian team decided to field first. The West indies scored 186 loosing 7 wickets. Sarwan scored the highest run for his team securing 62 out of 58 balls. Ashish Nehra bowled well taking three major wickets for his team. Even the Indian captain, M.S. Dhoni took three important catches.
The Indian squad started well when they went to bat. The first three batsman Dinesh Kartik, Gautam Gambhir and MS Dhoni played a key role in the match scoring 44, 47 and 46 respectively. Bad weather conditions affected the match again during the batting of the Indian side that called for a revision of the target. The match was decided to be finished in 22 overs and Indians had to secure 159 runs to win the match, which they did in 21.5 overs. The last over was quite an exciting one when the Indians had to score 11 runs in order to win. It was MS Dhoni’s six to Jerome Taylor’s second delivery which made the job easier for the Indians to win.
In the earlier two matches, India won the first one while the West Indies won the second.
