ICL player involved in accident, arrested

Chandigarh, Nov 3 (IANS) Ishan Malhotra, an Indian Cricket League (ICL) player who is part of the Chandigarh Lions team, was arrested Monday after he was involved in an accident. He was later released on bail, the police said.Ishan was riding his Yamaha R1 supersports bike when he allegedly hit two boys near the Sector-8 gurdwara in Chandigarh Saturday night.

“Police arrested Ishan on the complaint of the two victims and booked him for rash and negligent driving. However, he was released on bail after a few hours when his lawyer completed the legal formalities,” Har Sahai Sharma, station house officer of Sector 3, told IANS.

Interestingly, the police booked Ishan more than 36 hours after the accident.

Ishan, who also sustained some injuries in the accident, had practised Sunday with his other teammates of Chandigarh Lions.

Ishan (24) a fast bowler, originally hails from Jammu and Kashmir. He has also played for Punjab’s Ranji team before joining Subhash Chandra’s rebel ICL in 2007.
