Kolkata, Dec 8 (IANS) Expressing dissatisfaction over his defeat to union minister C.P. Joshi in the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) presidential poll, Indian cricket board vice-president Lalit Modi Tuesday said his group was looking into the chain of events before finalising its next course of action.
“I am not satisfied with the result. We will look into that (the election). We will look into what happened. Then we will see what can be done,” said Modi, who is also the Indian Premier League (IPL) commissioner.

Joshi defeated Modi 19-13 Monday in the high-pitched election that saw unruly scenes as supporters of the two contestants clashed alleging rigging and police had to intervene to restore normalcy.

Modi had later alleged that he and his supporters were manhandled by the rival group.

The IPL Commissioner did a recce of the Eden Gardens Tuesday and expressed satisfaction with the planned security arrangements for the third edition of the high-profile league next year.

“Everything is going according to plan,” he said, after a dialogue with Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president Jagmohan Dalmiya.

With renovation work going on in the Eden to adhere to the 2011 World Cup stipulations, the coming IPL chapter will have to do with less number of seats.

“We all have to compromise in view of the shortfall,” he said.

Modi said he was satisfied with the CAB’s stadium renovation blueprint, design and ongoing work.

Talking about next year’s IPL, he said it was being considered whether the present system of two timeouts each of seven and a half minute duration could be changed to four timeouts each of two and a half minute duration.

“Each side will get two time-outs, one during batting and another during fielding”.

Modi regretted that Pakistan cricketers will not be part of the coming IPL.

“We had extended the absolute deadline for confirmation of Pakistan players upto Dec 7. But the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Monday informed us that they have not been able to get their visas. We cannot extend the deadline any further.

“It would have been nice if a few Pakistani players had played. But we can’t help it. The IPL franchisees have been informed of this. They can now go for replacements,” Modi said.
