I will learn from the Indian team: Fletcher

London, July 15 (IANS) Indian cricket team coach Duncan Fletcher feels he can end up learning more from the players than teaching them.
Fletcher, who was coach of the Ashes winning England team in 2005, said players such as Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman and Harbhajan Singh had been so willing to work at their games on the recent tour of the Caribbean.
“They’ll probably teach me more than I can teach them,” he was quoted as saying in The Guardian.
He added that he finds the prospect of working with Sachin Tendulkar, who was not on the Caribbean tour, very exciting.
Fletcher took over the India’s coaching job from Gary Kirsten, and said he was also surprised to be back at coach’s job.
“It’s strange; I never thought I would be back in this role.”
“But the bug bit me again. This opportunity came along and I admit that I just could not turn it down. I enjoy helping young cricketers, any cricketers. It gives you a thrill. That’s why you take the job,” said Fletcher, who was in charge of England from 1999 to 2007.
He was open about England’s progress since his departure - and that of Peter Moores soon after.
“I don’t know Andy (Flower) well but he has obviously done a very, very good job. He has a good relationship with Strauss, which is crucial, and you just have to compliment him.”
