David Beckham London, Dec.6 (ANI): England football star David Beckham has said that he does not fear being axed for the World Cup, in spite of all he did to promote the country’s cause for a 2018 World Cup bid.

He believes that he has achieved a lot during a 13-year-long international career and knows the telephone call could come when an Italian accent murmurs the one word Becks is dreading — Sorry.

That word may cut to the core of his heart, but Beckham says it will not reduce his respect for coach Fabio Capello.

“I do not fear being axed for the World Cup. If I don’t make the squad it’s not going to stop me supporting the team. Nothing is guaranteed - I have discovered that is true in my career. If I can be part of it, then it will be amazing,” News of The World quoted Beckham, as saying.

“Everybody knows how much I love playing for my country but the manager will always pick a squad he thinks will win the competition. That has to be the way. If I am not part of that, of course I’d be upset, but it is something I would still respect,” he added. (ANI)
