Hussey backs Clarke to be an aggressive skipper during Sydney Test
January 2nd, 2011 - 1:57 pm ICT by ANISydney, Jan 2(ANI): Australian batsman Michael Hussey reckons that Michael Clarke would be an aggressive captain during the fifth and final Test of the Ashes series, starting in Sydney on Monday.
Clarke was named captain after Ricky Ponting was ruled out of the match after x-rays on his broken finger showed that the fracture had moved during this week’s fourth Test loss at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
“He’s got a very good cricket brain, he thinks about the game very well. I think he’ll be an aggressive captain,” the Age quoted Hussey, as saying.
“He’ll always be looking to take wickets out there, he’ll be looking to make changes to the field, changes to the bowlers, searching for a wicket all the time and he’ll always want the game going forward,” he added.
The 35-year-old further said that Clarke’s challenge would be to maintain his enthusiasm for five days.
“It’s going to be hard graft but we have 100 per cent confidence in him,” Hussey said.
“His energy levels are always very high, I know in particular during the T20 World Cup he was very energetic around the team,” he added.
Australia currently trails the five-match series 2-1. (ANI)
