Memphis, Aug 5, (THAINDIAN NEWS) NBA player Lorenzen Wright’s death was mourned by friends and family members during his funeral on Wednesday. Several fans were seen beside the silver casket of the slain son of Memphis. The memorial service of the player was held at the Fed-Ex Forum in Memphis and the fans fondly remembered their favorite player who they lovingly called ‘Ren’. Relatives of the NBA star addressed the fans at the service while they tried their best to fight off their tears. All of them expressed the disbelief at the way a man like Lorenzen Wright was killed because he was known to be a family man who was gentle and charitable.
Memphis Grizzlies owner Michael Heisley said that Lorenzen Wright possessed the looks of a movie star and had an infectious smile. He also said that each person at the memorial service should leave thinking that they will do something in favor of Lorenzen Wright by not allowing any such thing to happen again. Lorenzen Wright’s brother addressed the audience and said that he will never understand why anyone would kill his brother. He also added that to him, Lorenzen Wright was invincible. Lorenzen Wright’s father also attended the procession in a wheelchair along with the six children of Lorenzen Wright and his ex-wife. His father was also a basketball player who was paralyzed after he was shot in the spine.
Lorenzen Wright was found dead on July 28, six days after he was reported missing by his family. Police have called it a homicide as he was shot to death and are yet to make any arrests.
