Houston Rockets Loses To LA Lakers In NBA Opening Day

houstonOct 24, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Los Angles Lakers won over the Houston Rockets with a score of 112-110. It was a cut throat competition but at the end, it was Pau Gasol with 29 points and 11 rebounds and 27 points, with eight-for-nine from the free-throw line from Kobe Bryant, of the Los Angeles Lakers, who contributed to the final victory at Staples Center on Tuesday.

Other worthy performances on part of the Lakers were made by Shannon Brown, who had had 16 points off the bench, and Steve Blake had 10. However, one particular turning point is said to have brought the match on the Laker’s side, when Rockets forward Luis Scola missed a shot, that could have led to a tie, and it went out of bounds, to be in favor of the Lakers. But soon the officials reviewed the play, and it they awarded it back to the rockets with 2.4 seconds left. But soon Rockets point guard Aaron Brooks, broke the inside layup, that was blocked by Steve Blake, and gave his team a victory of 112-110.

Two important Laker players, Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom, who had 12 points and eight, had to go on the bench as both of then got their shares of fouls. This made Ron Artest had to play power forward and Theo Ratliff, at the center. By the end of the third quarter, Steve Blake helped the Lakers to get five points, as it was closed on it on a 13-7 runs. The best player of the Houston Rockets was Kevin Martin, with 26 points and three rebounds. He also hit 8-of-17 shots and 7-of-7 free throws. He gave two assists and a rare block in the match.
