Shimla, Sep 21 (IANS) The century-old Naldehra golf course in Himachal Pradesh, built by then British viceroy Lord Curzon, will redesigned as per international standards, an official said Monday.
“We have plans to redesign the Naldehra golf course. For this, we have invited bids from developers to carry out its expansion and development,” golf club manager Ashok Gupta told IANS.

The Naldehra Golf Club, which runs the course, wants to develop its fairways and greens and add more facilities to attract both amateur and professional golfers.

“For developing additional greens and fairways, a chunk of land has been acquired adjacent to the golf course. Work is almost complete to skirt the highway that winds its way through the course. The realigned road would be ready by year-end,” he said.

At present, Naldehra, 22 km from here, is a nine-hole course, it can also be played as an 18-hole course on the reverse.

Lord Curzon fell in love with the place and decided to develop the huge natural glade, surrounded by cedars, into a golf course. So enchanted was Curzon by the place that he gave Naldehra as his daughter Alexandra’s second name.
