Heskey admits might quit Villa to keep alive World Cup dream
October 12th, 2009 - 12:03 pm ICT by ANILondon, Oct.12 (ANI): Aston Villa and England star Emile Heskey has said that he may have to leave the club to keep alive his World Cup dream. The 31-year-old striker finds himself in the bizarre situation of being first choice for the country, but not for his club, and with England boss Fabio Capello saying that players not getting regular games will not make his South Africa squad, Heskey has to make a clear choice.
“If things don’t change, I will have to think about my next move but you would have to ask the Villa manager why I’m in the England team and not his. I don’t know,” The Sun quoted Heskey, as saying.Heskey has failed to establish himself in boss Martin O’Neill’s first team this season having moved to Villa from Wigan last January for 3.5 million pounds. He has started only three games this season, coming off the bench four times, and has not scored for club or country.
Heskey says things will have to change before the January transfer window.
“You always think about those kind of things but, like I said, I will just have to try to address it when the time is right,” he said. (ANI)
