Here’s how the Rooneys earn 15 million pounds-a-year
February 3rd, 2010 - 5:24 pm ICT by ANILondon, Feb 3 (ANI): Manchester United’s ace striker Wayne Rooney has been forced to reveal how he earns an extraordinary 15 million pounds-a-year in salary, sponsorship and image rights during a bitter legal row yesterday.
Details of the huge income of Rooney, 24, and his wife Coleen, 23, were disclosed in court papers as Proactive Sports Management sued the couple for 4.3 million pounds in what it claims is unpaid commission.
The papers showed that on top of his then 90,000 pounds-a-week Manchester United club salary, Rooney got 760,000 pounds a month for image rights, 152,000 pounds of which went to his agent.
He was also earning one million pounds a year from Nike, more than 200,000 pounds a year from computer games firm EA Sports and 600,000 pounds for a four-year deal with Coca-Cola.
Meanwhile wife Coleen earned 13,000 pounds for each episode of her ITV2 show Real Women.
The Rooneys have been dragged into a bitter legal spat between their agent Paul Stretford and Proactive Sports Management, his former firm.
Proactive Sports Management claim the Manchester United and England striker and his wife refused to pay the 4.3 million pounds commission after Stretford left.
When they discovered they were being sued for the unpaid monies, the couple allegedly claimed they were victims of “exploitation” because of their celebrity status.
The allegations were made on the first day of a three-week legal hearing at Manchester Mercantile Court between Proactive and the Rooneys and Stretford. (ANI)
