Heavyweight boxing champion Haye’s was off sex for 10 weeks
November 10th, 2009 - 12:55 pm ICT by ANI ( Leave a comment )London, Nov.10 (ANI): WBA heavyweight champion David Haye has revealed his blueprint to beat Russian Nikolai Valuev, the biggest and heaviest world champion ever. No sex, no booze and no nights out!Haye, 29, ripped the WBA heavyweight crown from giant Russian Nikolai Valuev in Nuremberg against all the odds.
It was not done without plenty of sacrifice. He was labelled a boxing playboy in his early days as a fighter.
“As time goes on, you fight better fighters, you have to have earlier nights and start thinking about what’s important. For me that was being No 1 in the world, the best heavyweight in the world. And going out clubbing doesn’t help that. You have to lose all the luxuries in life if you want to get to the very top in this notoriously hard sport,” The Sun quoted Haye’s, as saying.”Food, sex, everything. Every single pleasure you have, or only even dream about, must be cut out of your life. There is no room for anything other than training and fighting. I’ve yet to bump into a world champion who spent more time in a club than a gym,” he added.Haye is used to long spells away from his beautiful wife Natasha and 18-month-old son Cassius. But it is obvious being parted from his family is the thing that cracks him up most.
“The biggest sacrifice I’ve had to make is definitely being away from my family, not focusing on them and my friends, because I needed to put all my mental energy into one thing - boxing,” he said.
“In the big scheme of things I think it is all worth it and I’m sure my family do as well, as I have now fulfilled my dream of becoming world champion,” he added. (ANI)
