200px-jim_tressel_-_fiesta_bowl_-_jan_5_20091OSU’s head coach Jim Tressel had big hopes from Ohio State. He must be pulling up his socks now that his team lost to Trojans, in Galen Center on Saturday by 18-15. The traditional paly- calling that Jim is known for did not prove advantageous this time. As ESPN’s Chris Fowler would put it, “The Senator Vest” needs to teach his boys some consistency, since they did fight out but failed to keep up the commitment until the end.

He has inculcated the winning spirit successfully, making them achieve twice in season 2002-2003 and another one in 2005-2006, after he replaced head coach John Cooper. Ohio State’s Nathan Williams took some advantage over the Trojans noticeably, as the opponent team had a reinvented defense, a loophole in the otherwise flawless positioning of the Trojans. In respects of field positioning, it has been an upper hand of Tressel, and we did witness the evident hallmark coming into play at the match against Trojans.

If at all the team was out of shape, it would not prove eligible contenders for No.18 Notre Dame and No. 3 Southern California, with whom they played on Saturday’s non-conference game. Colorado State’s Dan Hawkins, Huskies coach Steve Sarkisian are all sailing in the same boat, battling for the best rank, but Tressel has deep trouble trusting on his team’s defense tactics.

We can absolutely expect the coach to come up with some plan that works well for his team, and he need not worry seriously having seasoned players like QB Terelle Pryor on his team, a player nicknamed “Junior of The Year” in the year 2008.
