Haye needs to prove himself before taking on Klitschko brothers: Tyson
July 17th, 2010 - 4:44 pm ICT by ANILondon, July 17(ANI): Former American world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson believes that current WBA heavyweight champion David Haye needs to get more experience before he takes on Klitschko brothers.
Tyson insists that Haye should prove himself against the top contenders in the heavyweight division, including American Chris Arreola, before thinking about WBO-IBF king Wladimir or the WBC title-holder Vitali.
“Haye has to establish himself as a champion. Believe it or not, he has to beat the likes of Arreola,” The Sun quoted Tyson, as saying.
“He doesn’t have to beat the Klitschko guys, he’s got to beat the up-and-coming guys like Arreola and the Russians.”
“He has to establish himself and then fight the Klitschkos,” he added.
Haye will not be fighting Wladimir next after the Ukrainian confirmed that he would clash with unbeaten Russian Alexander Povetkin in Frankfurt on September 11.
Vitali is in talks to meet Russian Nikolai Valuev or Yank Shannon Briggs. (ANI)
