Hayden says he is focussed on Sydney TestJanuary 1st, 2009 - 6:43 pm ICT by IANS
Sydney, Jan 1 (IANS) Struggling Australian Test opener Matthew Hayden admits being under pressure after his failings in Perth and Melbourne but said he is determined to fight back in the third and final Test against South Africa here beginning Saturday. Hayden said he will focus entirely on the five days of cricket ahead in Sydney.
“I’ve always kept it very simple in Test match cricket,” Hayden was quoted as saying in The Australian.
“I have a certain strategy to go out and play, sometimes that strategy doesn’t work and the result is evident, but I prepare the same way every time.”
“I am going to go in with a certain strategy and a clear mind and enjoy whatever result may or may not come my way, but generally speaking over the past 15 years it has gone my way,” he said.
Australia with back-to-back defeats in Perth and Melbourne have already lost the series and will look to salvage some pride by winning or drawing the match here.
