Chandigarh, June 19 (IANS) The Haryana government Thursday announced that it has selected 158 villages in the state for construction of sports stadiums to encourage sports activities among rural youth. The state government had earlier announced plans to build scores of rural sports stadiums, each costing Rs.4 million.
The stadiums are likely to be completed within two years.
Chief Parliamentary Secretary Dharambir Singh said the Haryana Rural Development Fund Administration Board (HRDFAB) had released Rs.560 million for the construction of stadiums.
He said another Rs.120 million have been sanctioned to provide drinking water facilities in the new stadiums.
