Mohali, April 26 (IANS) The ugly spat between Mumbai Indians captain Harbhajan Singh and Kings XI Punjab speedster Sreesanth riday night has drawn the ire of Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman Lalit Modi, who termed the incident a “serious matter” and said that it does not augur well for the tournament. “It looks like a serious matter the way it’s being shown on television channels but I can’t say anything now. In any tournament it should not happen, it’s unfortunate what happened,” Modi said.

Harbhajan had allegedly slapped Sreesanth after Mumbai Indians lost their IPL match to Kings XI Punjab Friday night and the latter was seen bitterly crying on the field.

England all-rounder Dimitri Mascarenhas can come for a second outing in the IPL the end of May.

According to Hampshire chairman Rod Bransgrove, Mascarenhas, who will play in IPL from May 12 to 26 could come back if Rajasthan Royals qualify for the semi-finals of the Twenty20 league.

Younis Khan not to play in IPL

Pakistani batsman Younis Khan, scheduled to join the Rajasthan Royals after the series against Bangladesh, has decided to stay back in Pakistan due to “personal reasons”.

“He told us that if we need him, he would fly any time but for now, he has some personal issues to settle and is staying back. We respect his decision”, Darren Berry, the Director of Coaching of the Royals was quoted as saying by Cricinfo.com.

The reports had suggested that Younis was upset over the manner in which the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) allowed the officials from International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Anti Corruption Unit (ACU) to question him without informing him before the first one-day international in Lahore.
