London, Sep 24(ANI): British Formula One ace Lewis Hamilton insists that his friendship with McLaren team-mate Jenson Button would survive the heat of the title fight.

The McLaren duo is locked in a battle for the championship title, but Hamilton insists that there are no mind games between them.

“I don’t play mind games with Jenson and he doesn’t play any with me. We have a great respect for each other and get on well,” The Sun quoted Hamilton, as saying.

“I think our friendship will survive. Lots of drivers try to do certain things, but I don’t feel I am affected by those things. I do my talking on the track,” he added.

The 25-year-old further said that he would not have any issue if Button became the first Brit in F1 history to retain the trophy.

“I am accepting of the fact that Jenson could win it. I wouldn’t have a problem with that,” Hamilton said.

“It could be him. If he wins it above me then it means he’s done a better job and I’ll take my hat off to him. I’m sure he’ll do the same for me,” he added.

With just five races left, Red Bull’s Mark Webber currently has the championship lead.

At 187 points, Webber is now five points ahead of Hamilton and 21 in front of Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso.

Button is at fourth place with 165 points. (ANI)
