Melbourne, Mar 27(ANI): Australian wicketkeeper Brad Haddin reckons that his impressive World Cup campaign has tightened his position as first-choice wicketkeeper in all formats.

Haddin’s grip on the wicketkeeper-batsman position had looked uncertain when Tim Paine and Matthew Wade replaced him when he was struggling due to an elbow injury.

However, the 33-year-old has made a strong comeback by scoring 332 runs from seven World Cup games at an average of 55.33, which confirmed him as Australia’s highest scorer for the tournament.

“As an international player you’ve got to be confident in your own ability. Coming back from injury I knew as soon as I got the elbow right, that I was able to move without any restrictions, that things were going to be fine,” the Sydney Morning Herald quoted Haddin, as saying.

“I’d had six months of pain in my elbow, which was frustrating, and I knew I just had to get myself 100 per cent right - and I have. My elbow’s right now and I’ve got no ill-effects,” he added. (ANI)
