The Sri Lankan National Cricket team had been ambushed by gunmen. The ambush has left at least two players seriously wounded.
The Gunmen fired over the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore killing at least six police officers and injuring eight SL players. According to police sources in Lahore Pakistani, masked gunmen armed with rifles and rocket launchers ambushed the cricket team Eastern Pakistani.
The Sri Lankan team was being driven to Lahore cricket stadium when the incident took place. They were in a bus headed for the cricket stadium when they were ambushed by a dozen masked gunmen. The players were headed for the popular Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Pakistan.
Though there are conflicting tally in the number of deaths from the attack, police in Lahore say that the attack was carried out by a pack of well-trained terrorists. Lahore Police chief has confirmed the incident and the death of his officers. Two civilians were t and five police officers were killed in the incident.
It is still unclear who was behind the attack since no group has claimed responsibility. The attack, though, could have been carried out by militants who are fighting back after Sri Lankan government crashed the Tamil Tiger rebels who have been battling the government for decades. Pakistani is also having problems with the Taliban. The attack was carried out by very well trained terrorists. It was orchestrated in a commando style taking the police by surprise.
