The Hague, Oct 6 (IANS) Holland’s star footballer Arjen Robben will miss the team’s Euro 2012 qualifiers against Moldova and Sweden due to a groin injury.
Robben left the Dutch training camp in Noordwijk Thursday.
The Bayern Munich forward is suffering from a pubic bone injury and medical examination made clear Wednesday that he will miss the matches against Moldova Friday and Sweden Tuesday, Xinhua reported.
Robben played as a substitute in Bayern’s last weekend’s against Hoffenheim (0-0). Earlier this week, it became clear that the winger will not able to play against Moldova.
“I am worried,” Robben said about his injury.
“It is definitely not good,” Robben added. “It is particularly annoying that I do not know exactly when it is over. It is a complicated injury. There is nobody who can say exactly what I have to do. Even rest does not help. This makes it very annoying.”
The Netherlands have already qualified for the Euro 2012 with eight straight wins. Playmaker Wesley Sneijder, defenders Hedwiges Maduro and Johnny Heitinga, midfielder Ibrahim Afellay, goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg will also not play in the final matches in Group E.
