March 28th, 2012 - 4:59 pm ICT by IANSRio de Janeiro, March 28 (IANS) Brazilian football club Gremio’s newest acquisition, midfielder Kleber, is set to be out for five months after undergoing surgery Tuesday.
Kleber fractured the fibula in his right leg after a hard tackle during last weekend’s match in the Rio Grande do Sul state championship.
Team doctor Mario Bolzoni performed a minor surgery, using a plate and six screws to secure the broken bone, Xinhua reported.
According to Bolzoni, Kleber will be absent from the field for at least five months. The athlete will begin physical therapy next week.
remio’s head coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo threatened to withdraw the club from the 2013 state championship, claiming that the irresponsible and immature play of smaller clubs adversely affect the health of his players.
