Great Play By Denis Istomin But Rafael Nadal Continues To Reign

Sep 4, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The US Open game on Friday between 39th ranked Denis Istomin of Uzbekistan and the top seeded Spaniard Rafael Nadal turned out to be an interesting one with both the players displaying immense energy on court. Especially commendable was the effort put forward by Denis Istomin who displayed some great work of hand. Although Rafael Nadal went for a 6-2, 7-6 (5), 7-5 victory on Friday night, it was the play of Denis Istomin that became the talk of the night.
Denis Istomin displayed some good work during the tie-breaker and left Rafael Nadal to trail a 5-1 in the second-set tie-breaker. Denis Istomin was able to deliver a spectacular winning shot out of a delicate drop shot delivered by Rafael Nadal. The player charged from behind the baseline and left a long skid mark on the court, to charge the drop shot. He went to the splits to deliver an amazing backhand shot. After the shot, an exited Denis Istomin, dropped his racket and pumped his fist screaming “Come On!” Some of the spectators stood up to give a much deserved standing ovation to the player whose effort was also recognized by Rafael Nadal. “Great point” the top seeded player added in praise of his opponent.
However, although Rafael Nadal joined the Arthur Ashe Stadium crowd to applaud Denis Istomin, he did not let the crowd to stand up for yet another ovation for Denis Istomin during the rest of the game. It was Rafael Nadal who went on to score the next six points to win the second-set tie breaker. Top seeded Rafael Nadal who is at present five games away from the prestigious title held that he was a bit lucky in the tie-breaker of the second set.
