April 7th, 2010 - 11:37 pm ICT by Angela Kaye Mason

Apr 07 (THAINDIAN NEWS) In an announcement which Brett himself placed on his website, the 40 year old future Hall of Famer said, “Deanna and I are very proud to welcome our grandchild Parker Brett to the Favre family. Parker Brett was born on Friday, April 2, weighing 7 lb. 7 oz. and we’re pleased to say that both Mom, Dad and Parker Brett are healthy and doing great.”

Brett’s daughter, 21 year old Brittany gave birth to a bouncing baby boy on April 02, 2010. Parker Brett weighed in at seven pounds and seven ounces. The birth was first reported by the Minneapolis Spokesman-Recorder.

Now many are asking if this will effect Brett’s decision of whether or not to come back to the Vikings to play a 20th NFL season. Brett announced after the NFC championshio game that he wanted to take the off-season to rest and be with his family as he decides whether or not to return to the NFL. With that family now a bit larger by one tiny baby boy, many are speculating that the birth of a grandson might just carry a lot of weight when it comes to that decision.

The coaches and owners of the Minnesota Vikings have left the door wide open in case Brett does wish to return. They are giving him all the time he needs to decide. Coach Brad Childress even made comments to suggest that if Brett skips training camp and off-season workouts the way he did last year, that it would be okay with the Vikings. Brett, who is 40 years old, would be the first ever active grandfather to play in the NFL if he does indeed decide to return. When asked about the decision, Brett replied, “It makes things more complicated but right now I’m not thinking much about football.” Well I would imagine not, under the circumstances! Congratulations Grandpa Favre!
