Granada sack coach Fabri
January 23rd, 2012 - 9:22 pm ICT by IANSMadrid, Jan 23 (IANS) Spanish La Liga football club Granada has sacked coach Francisco Gonzalez ‘Fabri’.
The man who led Granada to promotion to the top flight of Spanish football for the first time in 35 years was sacked as a result of his side’s 3-0 defeat away to Espanyol Saturday night.
The defeat means Granada are just one point away from the relegation zone and could fall into the bottom three depending on the result of the game between Villarreal and Sporting Gijon Monday night, Xinhua reported.
Fabri has been at Granada for just under two years after arriving in March 2010 and took the team to two successive promotions.
Former Atletico coach Abel Resino is said to be one of the favourites to replace ‘Fabri’.
