Govt’s future depends on how it tackles price rise: LeftApril 17th, 2008 - 3:56 pm ICT by admin
New Delhi, Apr 17 (ANI): Left parties today warned the Government that its future depended upon the steps it takes to curtail the rising prices of essential commodities.
Participating in a debate on inflation in the Rajya Sabha, Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Sitaram Yechury said: We don’t want you to force us rethink about our support to the government. We want you to implement the demands we have made.
The CPM Parliamentary Party leader said, The future of the government depends on how they tackle the issues.
In the Lok Sabha, similar sentiments were expressed.
I am sorry. We supported them (government) for four years…. The experiment might have failed. Government is out of place, Gurudas Dasgupta said in the Lower House.
In the Rajya Sabha, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Murli Manohar Joshi dared the Left parties to “dislodge” the government. “We will support you in dislodging the government,” Joshi said.
Inflation has touched a three-year high of 7.41 per cent last week, with prices of pulses, edible oil and foodgrains exerting pressure on household expenses, he said.
Samajwadi Party leader Mohan Singh said the Left cries hoarse on such issues, but will not do anything that will affect the stability of the government. (ANI)
