East Lansing, Nov. 18, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Gonzaga University basketball team lost the match against the Michigan State University, but they had come this close to winning. The final score of the match stood at 71-75. The outcome of the match was decided in the last 7 seconds. Before that, the score of the Gonzaga team stood 3 points behind the Michigan University, at 70. Draymond Green’s foul brought Demetri Goodson to the foul line, which he bungled up partially. He missed the first shot. However, he kind of made up for that mistake by making the second free throw. The score then stood at 71-73.
There was ample hope of winning till then. However, they were all but shattered in the last 5 seconds as Durell Summers of the Michigan State University clinched two free throws. He had earlier scored a three point basket that made Michigan’s score high enough. His performance helped the team win with a season high 21 points and stay in the rank list for the basketball teams. The Michigan State University has not been performing too well in the matches against the non conference teams in this season and the win against the Gonzaga University obviously comes in handy at this juncture.
The high score against the Michigan State University is a rather remarkable performance for the Gonzaga University Basketball team. The Michigan State University is ranked number 2 in the list whereas the Gonzaga University basketball team does not even make it. Thus, it could be safely assumed that though they could not steal a victory, they did perform quite well despite the odds of being pitted against a very formidable opponent.
