Golfing legend Nicklaus says let ‘great golfer’ Woods’ private life remain private

London, July 14 (ANI): Golfing legend Jack Nicklaus has urged the world to let Tiger Woods’ private life remain private so that he can concentrate on playing golf.
The Golden Bear admitted he fears for the troubled 34-year-old golfer, who cheated on wife Elin.
However, he wants Woods to get on with playing golf and be counted on the Old Course.
He said that Woods, with 14 Majors to his name, is the pretender to his record of 18 Major triumphs.
“Tiger’s like me - he loves St Andrews. He has always owned this golf course so, in my mind, he would be odds-on favourite to win,” the Sun quoted him as saying.
“He’s a great athlete and a great golfer with a great work ethic. He’s had a great desire to be a champion and he’s been a great champion,” he added.
“Despite anything else that’s been going on, my guess is he’ll be in top form when he gets here. There’s an ‘unless’, of course - an unknown part to him right now.
“I think he’s struggling with how to lead his life today. But it’s none of my business, that part of it. It’s no one else’s business.
“The only thing that is anyone else’s business is how he is as an athlete within the sport. The man’s private life should be private. The trouble is that everyone’s made it public.
“But whenever I came to The Open, it usually brought out the best in me. That applied no matter where we played it but particularly St Andrews,” said Nicklaus. (ANI)
