Madrid, Jan 14 (DPA) Spanish Primera Liga football club Sporting Gijon have announced that they have taken goalkeeper Inaki Lafuente on loan from Athletic Bilbao.Lafuente, 32, will be on loan at Gijon until June.

He has hardly played at all this season, because Athletic coach Joaquin Caparros prefers the younger Gorka Iraizoz. He was loaned out to Espanyol last season.

Gijon have been looking for a replacement since first-choice keeper Ivan Cuellar broke his right leg three weeks ago.

Gijon are the revelation team of the season in Spain. They returned to the top flight in June after an absence of 11 years, and are surprisingly ninth at the moment.

They tried to sign Dudu Aouate from Deportivo Coruna, but the Israeli instead opted for Mallorca. Their next target was Barcelona reserve Albert Jorquera, but the Catalan giants have insisted on him staying at the Camp Nou.
