Panaji, Sept 22 (ANI): Following revelations by suspected terrorists in Delhi that Goa was a likely target, the Goa police have stepped up security around all the vital establishments in the state and also increased surveillance along the railway station.
Superintendent of Police Atmaram Deshpande, who heads the state’’s special cell, told reporters: We are on our toes and have kept all the arrangements ready.
Moreover, the Goa police confirmed that they have received inputs from Kerala police about the Northern-bound train laden with explosives.
Deshpande said, “We are checking almost all the trains. The bomb disposal squad has also been pressed into service.”
While reacting to media reports quoting arrested terrorists that they had Goa next on their target, Deshpande said that they have not received any such confessional statements from Delhi police.
On Friday at an encounter in Jamia Nagar, the Delhi Police nabbed one of the terrorists, alleged to have been involved in the Delhi serial blasts and got hold of a laptop which provided vital links to blasts in Jaipur, Bangalore, Ahmedabad and New Delhi.
On Sunday, three more Indian Mujahideen (IM)-Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) operatives were arrested, following which the Delhi police said the group’’s mastermind Atif Ameen alias Bashir, also had plans to carry out 20 bombings in the business district of Nehru Place in Delhi. (ANI)
