March 10th, 2009 - 10:26 pm ICT by GD ( 2 comments )According the Hillsborough County Deputies the girlfriend of Geno Hayes stabbed him in the head and neck with a pair of scissors and a knife. Hayes is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker at the National Football League. Hayes, 21, had superficial wounds and was hospitalized but later released after treatment from a Tampa-area hospital. He could be discharged in a few hours because according to hospital reports the wounds were not very serious.
His girlfriend, Shevelle Bagley, 19, was arrested on counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. She was freed on a bond of $25,000. According to reports, Bagley and Hayes had got into an argument that got violent. She grabbed a pair of scissors and stabbed Hayes in the head. He managed to wring out the scissors from her hands but authorities claim she then picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed Hayes in the neck.
The Bucs had roped in Hayes, originally from Florida State, in the sixth round of the 2008 NFL draft and on his nine games with Tampa Bay last season he has scored 13 tackles. He was a special teams standout before being down with a season-ending knee injury in 2008. He is expected to compete for a starting job in the defense team of Tampa Bay in 2009.
Geno, called Eugene Antonio Hayes, played college football at Florida State. Before Florida State’s 2007 loss to Florida, Hayes was on the receiving end of a good deal of media attention for his comments about Tim Tebow, former Gators quarterback and later Heisman winner.
