Gina Carano to fight unnamed fighter at Strikeforce 18
April 14th, 2011 - 11:30 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattDallas, April 14 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Gina Carano is set to fight a yet-to-be-named fighter on the 18th of June at Strikeforce 18. The fight would take place in Dallas. The fighter has not competed in any bout since August of 2009.
Her last bout though is one that she would want to forget early. It was against Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos and she lost the chance to take the vacant Strikeforce 145-pound title when she lost the fight. It is the only loss in her career after fighting 7 bouts. Since the bout, she has kept herself busy with other projects in her life including acting.
Carano’s latest action movie, “Haywire” is set to hit the theaters in August. The movie features other stars like Michael Douglas, Channing Tatum and Ewen McGregor. She has previously appeared on NBC’s “American Gladiators” where she played the role of Crush.
Carano was initially scheduled to fight Cindy Dandois but it was realized that Cindy was more than three months pregnant. That means the fight would not be possible so the organizers are looking for another opponent for Carano. The CEO of Strikeforce told reporters that they hope to get another opponent lined up for Carano in the coming weeks.
