Gill congratulates world champion Sushil Kumar

New Delhi, Sep 13 (IANS) Sports Minister M.S. Gill Monday congratulated Sushil Kumar on becoming the first Indian wrestler to win a gold medal at the World Wrestling Championship in Moscow.
Sushil made India proud by defeating Gogaev Alan of Russia 3-1 in the final of the 66kg category Sunday.
“With this historical win in the World Championship, Sushil has made the country proud. His achievement will inspire others also to bring laurels for the country,” Gill said in a statement Monday.
The 27-year-old made headlines first when he won a bronze medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Sushil also won a gold in the 66-kg freestyle Asian Wrestling Championship in May.
He begins as a favourite to win the gold in the Oct 3-14 Commonwealth Games.
