Gilberto undergoes surgery on nose

Rio de Janeiro, April 1 (IANS) Former Arsenal midfielder Gilberto Silva underwent surgery to correct his broken nose.
Silva received a vicious elbow during his team’s 4-0 win over Avenida March 29 in the fifth round of the Rio Grande do Sul state championship.
Unable to readjust his nose, the player was forced to correct the problem through surgery Saturday. He is expected to be sidelined for a month.
Silva is Brazilian club Gremio’s third player to suffer a fracture in within one week.
