Georgia, Azerbaijan to jointly bid for Euro 2020
March 7th, 2012 - 9:31 pm ICT by IANSBaku (Azerbaijan), March 7 (IANS) Georgia and Azerbaijan will make a joint bid to host the Euro 2020, visiting Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili said here Wednesday.
“Azerbaijan and Georgia will apply to jointly host the European football championships in 2020,” Saakashvili told Azerbaijan’s parliament, Xinhua reported.
The bidding process will start later this year and the winner is due to be announced in 2014.
This year’s European football championship will be jointly hosted by Poland and Ukraine, with the 2016 tournament to be held in France.
