Georgia Athletic Director Damon Evans Apologizes For DUI Arrest

damonAthens, July 2, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Early on Thursday, Damon Evans the Athletic Director of the University of Georgia apologized for his misdemeanor at a press conference. He was arrested along with a female companion named Courtney Fuhrmann on late Wednesday night for Driving Under Influence (DUI) in Atlanta.

The arrest was made after he failed miserably in a field sobriety test that was conducted by the Atlanta police. Damon Evans was charged for DUI and also for failing to maintain the lane. His co-passenger in the 2009 BMW whom he described as “just a friend” was arrested for disorderly conduct. Courtney Fuhrmann had reportedly denied following the orders of the Atlanta Police.

On Thursday Damon Evans apologized for his action at a press conference held at the Athens campus. He said that his personal behavior and actions do not indicate in any way the values that are taught to student athletes by the teachers of the University. He told that his “actions have put a black cloud over our stories program”. Damon Evans said that he is haunted and troubled by the fact that his actions have led his wife go through a lot of pain right now. “I’ve hurt everybody” the Athletic director maintained.

As for Courtney Fuhrmann, the co-passenger of Damon Evans, the 28-year-old lady has told to media sources that she would not like to discuss the matter and has declined to speak a line on the incident. It is not yet known the kind of relationship Damon Evans shares with Courtney Fuhrmann who was described as a friend to the Atlanta Police. Courtney Fuhrmann was arrested as she reportedly ignored the warning of the police who ordered her to remain inside the 2009 BMW car while Damon Evans was pulled out.
