Gazza’s drinking pal accused of telling absolute pack of lies in court
February 16th, 2011 - 6:59 pm ICT by ANILondon, Feb 16 (ANI): Former England footballer Paul Gascoigne a.k.a. Gazza’s friend has been accused of drink-driving on a fishing trip with the troubled football star and telling an “absolute pack of lies” in court.
Michael Harvey, 41, was seen on CCTV opening the driver’s door of a van outside a pizza takeaway as Gazza, 43, got in the other side.
At that moment a police vehicle pulled up at Leeming Bar, North Yorks, The Sun reports.
Banned driver Harvey insisted that a mystery man had been chauffeuring them, but had “run off”.
Yesterday, prosecutor Stephanie Hancock told Harvey: “This man didn’t exist. You drove the van.” (ANI)
