Gazza feels gutted about criminal Moat’s death
July 12th, 2010 - 5:58 pm ICT by ANILondon, July 12 (ANI): Troubled former England football star Paul Gascoigne has revealed that he is completely shattered by the death of his pal Moat.Gazza, 43, surprised cops by turning up at last Friday’s stand-off offering to help negotiators. The former England and Newcastle United star said: “I’m gutted. He was a good friend of mine.” He added: “I took food, bread, a can of lager, some jackets, something to keep him warm, a Newcastle top, everything. But I never got the chance to see him. The police stopped us getting through and wouldn’t let me speak to him.”Gascoigne said he believes Moat’s decision to take his own life was brought on by cops stressing him out.
He said: “If you’ve got police surrounding you and putting pressure on you, then… obviously he did snap.”
He added: “The best thing though is that he didn’t shoot anybody - he just shot himself. I think he would rather shoot himself than have a long stretch in jail. I wanted to help him.” (ANI)
