Gayle to play for WA in KFC Twenty20 Big Bash
November 19th, 2010 - 5:12 pm ICT by ANIMelbourne, Nov 19 (ANI): West Indies opener Chris Gayle will return to play for Western Australia in the 2010-11 KFC Twenty20 Big Bash competition.
Gayle, 31, was cleared by the West Indies Cricket Board to take his place in the Warriors’ squad, a team official said.
He will return to Perth after playing two matches for the Warriors in last southern summer’s T20 Big Bash, FOX Sports reports.
“It was unfortunate that injury prevented me from playing the entire Big Bash last year, but the West Australian public were very friendly and really welcomed me as a member of the Warriors squad,” Gayle said.
“I will be looking to repay that support and do all that I can to help the Warriors be successful in this season’s Big Bash and qualify for the Champions League Twenty20 tournament,” he said.
The Big Bash series, involving all six Australian states, runs from December 30 to the February 5 final. (ANI)
