Gayle all set to play again for Warriors in Twenty20 Big Bash
November 10th, 2010 - 3:39 pm ICT by ANISydney, Nov 10 (ANI): West Indies batsman Chris Gayle is almost certain to play again for Western Australia during this summer’s Twenty20 Big Bash competition.
Gayle was a big hit for the Warriors last summer despite playing just two games due to a side strain.
The prolific striker, who recently turned down a central contract offer from the West Indies Cricket Board to free up the option of playing in various T20 domestic leagues around the world, is keen to return to Perth, with only paperwork remaining in the way.
“We are waiting for the NOC (No Objection Certificate) document to be signed,” WACA chief executive Graeme Wood said.
“And there’s still negotiations on at the moment between the West Indies Cricket Board and the West Indies Players’ Association but all indications are it’s heading in the right direction and we’ll have Chris Gayle available this summer.
“He’s got great charisma and we’d just love to see him back here playing all six games and hopefully getting us into the finals,” The Sydney Morning Herald quoted him, as saying.
Gayle was dumped as West Indies captain last month after refusing to sign a West Indies Cricket Board central contract, which would have required him to play in the local T20 league. (ANI)
