gayad3Feb 6, (THAINDIAN NEWS) CBS was running an ad contest for Super Bowl which received some really interesting entries. The network was somewhat amused when they received an ad by ManCrunch, a gay dating site. The ad which has spread in net like wildfire, was thought to be inappropriate by CBS. Thereafter, the agency rejected the ad. CBS said in its statement that the specific ad did not adhere to its practice and standards. The CBS executives thought showing the ad, which explicitly depicts a man kissing another man, may offend the sensibility of the viewers. Naturally, the ManCrunch executives have not taken it nicely. They are of the opinion that there is nothing crude or vulgar about the ad and even if CBS turns it down it is likely to find favor with some other network.

A spokesman for the gay dating site ManCrunch said that the company spent almost $100,000 to make the ad. He declined the allegation that the ad has been made to create controversy. He described it as a funny and entertaining ad with nothing in it that points to crudeness. He accused that CBS made the company wait for 2 weeks whereas other companies got approval much faster. He also expressed his disappointment that CBS’ decision to reject the ad has been spurred by anti-gay sentiments.

Homophobia continues to haunt media entities and earlier some such ads have received flaks as they contained elements of same sex love. However, the controversy over the kissing ad has brought ManCrunch into focus. The site may get more visitors now.
