Ganguly rubbishes reports of “compromise” with BCCIOctober 1st, 2008 - 9:33 pm ICT by IANS
Kolkata, Oct 1 (IANS) After being included in the Test squad for Australia, Sourav Ganguly scotched rumours that it was a “compromise” formula with the Indian cricket board wherein he was given a deadline to retire from international cricket.”Suggestions that this is a compromise is absolutely wrong,” Ganguly told reporters here Wednesday.
The newly formed selection committee headed by Krishnamachari Srikkanth included the former captain in the 15-member squad for the first two Tests, ending days of speculation over his career.
Rumours had it that the board wants to phase out the senior players and has worked out a formula for their “honourable exit” from the international cricket.
Ganguly said the four Test series will be competitive and exuded confidence of beating Australia.
“It is a tough series and we will give our best,” he said.
