Coimbatore, June 16 (IANS) Fresh from his win at the LG Southern Indian Amateur golf tournament in Bangalore, Gagan Verma will be a favourite at the LG Coimbatore Open Amateur Golf Championship starting here Tuesday at the picturesque Coimbatore Golf Club. This prestigious event forms the fourth leg of the 13-legged LG Indian Amateur Golf Tour.

India top amateur golfer Abhishek Jha along with Verma will lead the field, which also includes other leading amateurs like Manav Das and Rahul Bajaj.

Jha had won the first leg of the tour, LG ITC Classic Open while Rahul Bajaj had clinched the second leg at LG Jaypee Open title.

“I am happy with my performance. And the victory in Bangalore has definitely boosted my confidence,” said Verma. “I have been able to iron out my mistakes and I am really looking forward to a win here.”

The Coimbatore Golf Club is one of the most challenging golf courses in India. Strategically located hazards in the shape of water bodies and bunkers add to the challenging nature of the course.
