Freddie Flintoff assures ECB on fulfilling 2009-10 ODI commitments
September 28th, 2009 - 2:52 pm ICT by ANILondon, Sep.28 (ANI): Andrew Flintoff has given a written assurance to the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) that nothing will get in the way of his England one-day commitments over the course of the next year.
Flintoff, who rejected the offer of a 12-month incremental contract earlier this month, is recuperating from knee surgery in Dubai. But after the player’s agent made it clear one reason for turning down the contract offer was to leave him free to pursue opportunities outside cricket, England managing director Hugh Morris asked for assurances.
The Sun quoted Morris as saying: “I wrote to [his agent] and asked whether Fred would be available. What I have had is an undertaking that Andrew is available for all one-day internationals and Twenty20 cricket over that 12-month period. I have that in writing.” (ANI)
