Frankie Edgar Defeats BJ Penn To Secure The Lightweight UFC 112 Title

bjAbu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, Apr 11, (THAINDIAN NEWS) On Saturday night, Frankie Edgar won the lightweight title of the Ultimate Fighting Championship 112 after a unanimous decision was passed in his favor. Frankie Edgar was put against BJ Penn during the lightweight title. It was a tough fight and Frankie Edgar proved strong from the beginning and was able to put forward a brave front in front of the defending champion BJ Penn, who has been in the lead position for years now.

The UFC’s debut in the Middle East will remain in the memory of the viewers for the rest of their life as BJ Penn was defeated by Frankie Edgar (12-1) on whom few had put trust before the game. On Saturday night it seemed that Frankie Edgar was in no mood to let the defending champion win the title again. However, the game was not all that easy as at the first two rounds Frankie Edgar had some tough times standing in front of BJ Penn. However, as the game proceeded it seemed to go in favor of Frankie Edgar, who took the lead. He became active and also tackled well the defense of BJ Penn.

The crowd of 11,008 was awestruck to see the historical fight in which BJ Penn had to suffer a takedown by Frankie Edgar who then went for some shots on the mat. It was amazing as it has been unseen for the last 6 years. At the end, the Judges’ scorecards read 50-45, 48-47 and 49-46. Frankie Edgar was more than elated with his win and struggle to hold back his tears as he received the championship belt round his waist.
