Frank Shamrock Says Goodbye To Fighting

589San Jose, June 27, (THAINDIAN NEWS) One of the pioneers of mixed martial arts, Frank Shamrock has finally announced his decision to draw the line to his career. The first martial arts fighter to win the Ultimate Fighting Championship light-heavyweight title announced his decision on Saturday. Reportedly, Frank Shamrock had last appeared against Nick Diaz in the year of 2009 where he was defeated by his opponent. Since then, Frank Shamrock has never participated in any game of Strikeforce.

While he stood at the pavilion in San Jose, he said that it’s time for him to part ways from Strikeforce. Frank Shamrock made a special mention of Gilbert Melendez and Cristiane Cyborg who he feels are the future stars of the game and it’s time that they should take over. Earlier, Frank Shamrock had stepped out of UFC and spent most of his time as a martial arts trainer and a commentator. Besides Strikeforce, Frank Shamrock has contributed a lot to improve the conditions of martial arts fighter and the tournaments which are being held all over the country. He was also one of the first martial arts fighter who emphasized upon the “mixed” element which gained widespread popularity.

Both Frank Shamrock and Bas Rutten acted as trainers for grappling and striking tactics which are regarded to be an important aspect of martial arts. On Saturday, Frank Shamrock recalled his days when he used to battle out his opponents at the Strikeforce platform way back in the 1990’s. He further added that he shares an unshakable bond with Strikeforce and although it’s his last day he shall always stay attached to Strikeforce.
